Appearing
more and more in the holiday brochures, Svoronata is little
more than a hamlet strung along the road from the airport
towards the southern Livatho, and, while charming enough,
the accommodation usually offered is mostly set between the
village and the sea, a good distance away. To serve the tourists
there are a number of tavernas, of varying quality, but without
transport most people will feel a little isolated, and without
the consolation of genuinely local atmosphere. On the plus
side, with a car you are well placed for the three local beaches
Avithos, Aghios Helis and Ammes beach, the last of which is
almost part of the airport runway, and as such is about the
only place on the island where you really notice the aircraft.

Pluses
Good
beaches. Quiet.
Minuses
Transport
required.
Argostoli
is about 15 minutes away, and the villages of Kaligata, Kourkoumelata,
Metaxata and beyond are within easy reach to the south. And
why not catch the ferry from Pessada (10 minutes by car) for
a day in Zakynthos the north of the island is still
relatively unspoilt, and gives you the opportunity to take
a trip to the famous blue caves and the shipwreck cove which
you can enjoy to yourselves before the hordes arrive from
the south of the island.
