Myrtos is the most photographed beach
in Greece, and as you approach it either from north or south
its easy to understand why - the incredible colours of the
sea contrast with the dramatic sweep of coral white sand.
Down
at ground level, once you've negotiated the road down from
Divarata, Myrtos itself is a bit of a disappointment. There
are no facilities other than a fairly basic drinks outlet,
and the beach itself is grubbier than it appears from above.
And beware the sea here, because the beach drops away rapidly,
creating powerful undertows and making it a place for strong
swimmers only. |

 Pluses
Dramatic
beach, sandy.
Minuses
Rapidly
shelving beach, strong undercurrents - not recommended for
children. |
