Once
an untouched backwater, Karavados is now rapidly growing in
appeal, particularly to the English. At first sight it is difficult
to understand why its a nice enough village, with an
imposing church and a genuinely Greek feel but there
isn't even a taverna (as yet) and the sea is a couple of kilometres
away. But
you can enjoy a cold Amstel with the locals outside the mini-market,
and if you do make it down to the beach at Aghios Thomas you
are treated to a real gem though after 8 people have
got there its full!
There
are a number of studios in the village, a hotel (the Karavados
Beach) on the beach road, and some more delightful studios
standing above the beach itself. But be aware - car hire is
virtually essential!
