For
years the Greek beer market was dominated by the two Dutch
brewed-under-license marques of Amstel and Heineken, both
of which seem better here than when consumed in the UK. Recent
years, however, have seen the growth of the Greek brand Mythos,
and most tavernas and bars will carry all three as standard.
An
increasing number of bars now also seek to cater to wider
tastes, and you will therefore be able to find a number of
imports from place to place. Fischer seems to have taken a
hold here, and Stella can also be found here and there.
There
also a few lesser-known Greek brands such as Alpha, Vergina
and Fix, though you may pass many a taverna before coming
across one of them. If you do, give one a try - they don't
differ radically in style from the big three, but you may
find something to your taste.
