Assos
is an absolute must see for
anyone with the remotest liking for pretty Greek villages...
because this is a real gem. Hidden far below the precarious
road which hugs the mountainside on the way to Fiskardo, Assos
seems to appear from nowhere as you negotiate the hairpins
on the way down.
And
when you arrive you are greeted by a gorgeous natural cove,
flanked on one side by beautiful pastel coloured houses and
the few tavernas and bars, and on the other by the tree clad
hill on which stands the village's fort.
Admittedly
there is little to do other than order a beer (or lunch) and
drink in the tranquility, but there really aren't many places
on Kefalonia which beat it for sheer relaxation.
