For those staying in and around Svoronata, Ammes beach is probably the nearest to hand, reached by either of the roads on the right as you go through the village to the south.

The beach is nice and sandy (Ammes means sands in Greek), has good swimming and has the usual sunbeds and a small beach bar on the short walk down to it. There are also tavernas, though not immediately at hand.

In season, however, (and when else would you go there?) the proximity to the airport runway means that every so often you will be convinced that a plane is about to land on you, and its difficult to resist the impulse to duck!
